STATE JUNIOR SQUAD

The State Junior Squad is the second progression in Tea Tree Gully Swimming Club Squad program and aims to assist athletes strengthen the foundations of competitive technique and skill across all four strokes with an emphasis on medley swimming.

Participants will be encouraged to focus on the process and enjoyment of racing as they develop habits that will continue throughout their competitive journey. Athletes will continue their involvement in Splash Carnivals and will be introduced to Targeted District & Club level competitions.

  • Age: Primarily between 8-13 years of age

  • Sessions: Athletes are encouraged to attend 3-4 sessions per week.

TRAINING TIMETABLE

(Starts Monday the 29th of April)

Coaches:Erin & Lawrence

  • TUESDAY 4.30pm - 6.00pm at ARC
  • WEDNESDAY 6.00pm - 7.30pm at ARC
  • FRIDAY 5.30pm - 7.00pm at ARC
  • SATURDAY 8.00am - 9.00am at ARC

WARM UPS

Swimmers are asked to arrive at the pool 15 minutes before training.


COMPETITIONS

State Junior Squad competes in Splash Carnivals & Targeted District & Club Meets, with an aim to qualify and compete in State Championships.


COMMUNICATION

Two of the most important aspects of being involved in the Tea Tree Gully Swimming Club is good communication between the coach, swimmer and parents and the effective distribution of information to families by the coach and the club.

If a swimmer or parent has any questions or concerns, they are asked to speak to their coach.

The Club uses a number of communication methods to keep members up to date;

TeamApp

Team App

The club predominately utilises TeamApp to communicate updates notices, schedules, events, etc. You can download TeamApp to compatible smart phones and tablets. It is designed to send alerts and messages direct to the device on which is installed. Alternatively, you sign up through the TeamApp webpage and receive all notifications to your email address. The team app website is: www.teamapp.com

Once installed search for Tea Tree Gully Swimming Club and request to join the membership. This will be sent to a nominated committee member for action.

SQUAD PATHWAYS

The athletes in State Junior Squad progress to:

State Youth Squad – athletes who:

  • have consistently attended 3+ sessions per week as prescribed by the coach
  • have demonstrated the ability to learn and apply new technique and skill concepts
  • have consistently attended competitions as prescribed by the coach
  • are physically and mentally ready for the increase in commitment
  • are physically and mentally ready for the increase in training workload

Progressions from State Junior Squad generally occur at the beginning of each season (after Long Course or Short Course State Championships) however a transition phase may take place at any time.

Athlete progression will be decided by the Coaching Team.


EQUIPMENT

We do have equipment that swimmers can borrow from time to time. However it is important that swimmers have their own equipment.

State Junior Squad Swimmers are asked to have their own:

  • Drink Bottle (required for training)
  • Flippers
  • Kick Board
  • Pull Buoy
